✨ Product Overview

Meet the Copiapoa hypogaea (Lizard Skin Cactus, also known as Black Gold Cactus) — a rare, striking globular cactus that’s a true collector’s gem! 🤩
This stunning succulent features a unique, bumpy, "lizard-skin" textured body in deep olive-green, crowned with dense, snow-white woolly areoles that create a striking contrast. It offsets readily, forming gorgeous, dense clusters of these textured "living pebbles". In spring, it blooms with bright yellow, daisy-like flowers that emerge from the white wool, adding a sunny pop of color to its dramatic appearance. Every cluster is one-of-a-kind, with natural variations in texture and growth pattern, making each plant a unique living artwork. 🌿

💧 Care Guide (Collector-Friendly!)

This rare desert cactus is adapted to extreme conditions, making it surprisingly low-maintenance with the right care:
  • ☀️ Sunlight: Thrives in bright, full sun to enhance its white wool and texture. Protect from intense midday sun in summer to prevent sunburn.
  • 💦 Watering: Extremely drought-tolerant! Follow the "soak and dry" method, water sparingly only when the soil is completely dry (every 3-4 weeks in growing season). Keep 100% dry in winter during dormancy to avoid root rot.
  • 🌡️ Temperature: Ideal growing temperature 20-30°C (68-86°F). Can tolerate short periods down to 5°C (41°F) when dry. Protect from frost!
  • 🪴 Soil: Use an extremely fast-draining, gritty cactus mix (80%+ grit: pumice, volcanic rock, perlite) to mimic its desert habitat.
  • ⚠️ Special Note: This cactus is adapted to the foggy coastal desert of Chile — it absorbs moisture through its skin, so avoid overwatering at all costs! A cool, dry winter rest is critical for flowering.
